1946 Harley-Davidson “Knucklehead” with Sidecar

Like many of the vehicles in 3 Dog Garage, this motorcycle has significance that goes beyond the technical. It is a restored example of a late 1946 Harley-Davidson “Knucklehead” with a 61 cubic-inch overhead valve, V-twin engine, with the uncommon and desirable sidecar and some period upgrades. The greater significance is that this motorcycle was restored by Ross’s neighbor and good friend, Bob Leyland, who liked to work on and build Harley-Davidsons. It is also the last motorcycle that Bob restored before he passed away some years ago. For Ross, seeing the late-day sun reflect off its curves and chrome brings back the memory of many wonderful evenings spent with Bob in his shop, laughing, learning and talking motorcycles. What better reason to have any vehicle than that it preserves memories you hold dear?
