1928 Model A Roadster
Model A Fords were produced for four model years, 1928-1931. Series production of the 1928 Model A’s began in late 1927, and the car’s public introduction took place on December 2 of that year. This Model A Roadster came off the Ford assembly line on November 25, 1927, making it one of the earliest cars built and one of about 50 of the so-called “27 cars” known to still exist. An early car is quite rare and is prized by Model A collectors and enthusiasts, especially if, like this one, the car has a documented three-digit engine number. This example is #189 out of nearly 900,000 1928 Model A’s made. Factory records show that, in January of 1928, this Roadster was the first Model A exported to Sweden, where it spent many decades of its life before returning to the U.S. Remarkably, its ownership history has been tracked since new, making the car one of the most historically significant examples of the five-million Model A Fords made.
