1929 Model A Town Car

Custom Body by Briggs

Starting in late 1928, the Model A lineup included a new body style, the Town Car, priced at a lofty $1,400, about $700 more than the Town Sedan. To define the car in the marketplace as a significantly more luxury-oriented car than a standard Model A, and to add cache in the minds of potential buyers, Town Cars were sold by Lincoln dealers only. Custom-built by Briggs for Ford, the car featured an “all-weather” front compartment for a chauffer and a closed rear compartment for well-to-do owners/passengers. Only 913 Town Cars were sold in 1929. This particular car was owned for many years by famous fashion designer Esther Larson (born 1919) who was also a founding member of the Model A Restorers Club in 1952.
